Online activities (A1–A2)

Learning English is a section of the Cambridge English website containing lots of online activities mapped to the CEFR. You could use them in class, but they’re also built for mobile use, so students could use them at home or on the go. You can search for activities by skill, level or the amount of time you want to spend on them.

Listening practice (B1–B2)

You can help your students improve their listening skills with our audio series, Virtually Anywhere. The series tells a story about university students Geeta and Paul. They are struggling with their coursework, when a mysterious professor offers to help.
Each of the seven episodes comes with B1–B2 level activities to help your learners practise the language used in each episode. There are also lesson plans, so you can use the episodes in the classroom.

Regular verbs

Listen to the podcast and read the regular key:

There are three different ways to pronounce the 'ed' ending of regular verbs in the simple past tense: / Id / , / t / or / d /.

The pronunciation depends on the sound at the end of the infinitve of the main verb and whether it is voiced or not.

/Id /
infinitives that end in the sounds
/t/ or /d/
/ d /
infinitives that end in a voiced sound
/ t /
infinitves that end in an unvoiced sound

A voiced sound is one that
vibrates in your throat when you say it.
